Places To Eat: Uay Balam Bakery & Cafe

Uay Balam is a Bakery & Cafe that is located in the heart of Gracia. At first glance, Uay Balam appears to be a dessert and ice cream shop. But upon closer inspection, Uay Balam is more than just a shop. They make the most original ice creams and desserts and are one of the only places in Barcelona where you can get Eton Mess, a traditional English dessert. Original, natural, organic and tasty. Uay is a meeting place where you can share small pleasures, including loving sweets and ice cream made with the purest, organic and mostly seasonal ingredients.  The Uay Balam community is made up of shamans/sorcerers who tend and care for the crops and raw materials.  Everything is made on location. We speak of the Mayan synchrony that the national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn, food and more food.

We went to the bakery & cafe to try out some of their food. I found it scrumptious, and in the perfect serving size. We sampled one sweet and one savory treat and both were very satisfying.
